HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - A 34-year-old Holland man’s troubles may have just begun.

According to Public Safety officials, Joseph Fenwick was driving westbound, with his wife and four children on board, in the family’s SUV on 24th Street around 4 AM this past Saturday morning. He apparently drove through a red light at US-31, and his vehicle was broadsided by a northbound vehicle on the highway. The force of the collision rolled the SUV over, and some of the youngsters, ranging in ages from 10 to 2, were thrown out of the vehicle. The entire Fenwick family was taken to Holland Hospital for treatment of fractured bones, head trauma and lacerations. The other driver, 46-year-old Terry Henkel of Holland, wasn’t hurt.

Investigators not only determined that some of the youths were not properly buckled into the SUV, but that Fenwick was driving without a valid license at the time of the crash. Officers are also looking for more eyewitnesses to the incident before submitting the case to the Ottawa County Prosecutor’s Office for consideration; tips to Holland Public Safety or Silent Observer (877-88-SILENT; http://mosotips.com) are welcome.
