HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - Both the Holland Board of Education and the Holland Education Association ratified a new one-year collective bargaining agreement yesterday. The contract ties pay increases for about 280 unionized teachers to enrollment projections, with the district forecasting a slight decrease to slightly fewer than 41 hundred students when pupil counts are taken in October. The deal also includes a switch in health care coverage to a savings plan that has a higher deductible. It is believed to be the first ever one-year agreement between the district and teachers in Holland Public Schools, due mainly to state funding uncertainties.
