HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) -- The Holland Public Safety Department’s K-9 unit received two new protective vests for Henry and Niki, with “Police” in bold white letters across the side. The nonprofit group, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc raised more than 150-thousand dollars to outfit 163 canines in 30 states. If the Department had to purchase the vests, they would cost about two-thousand dollars apiece. Some of the money raised during the annual Holland K-9 Golf Outing will go to buy cameras to put on the dogs themselves that will help officers when the dogs are used in search or tactical situations.
