GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WHTC) - A Monterey Township couple filed a lawsuit at US District Court in Grand Rapids yesterday, looking to prevent the federal government from leasing mineral rights to over 27 thousand acres in the Allegan State Game Area. John Davis and Marybeth Pritschet-Davis want to stop a scheduled auction next Thursday, saying that natural gas fracking would damage crucial wildlife habitat. The couple owns 40 acres adjacent to that land. Last month, a similar lawsuit on a state level involving various sites in southwest Michigan was dismissed by a Barry County Judge.
