HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - Weather more in keeping with an April 17th rather than a November 17th hit the Lakeshore and much of the Upper Midwest yesterday. A cold front that raced over unseasonably warm air led to high winds and storms that knocked out electricity to hundreds of thousands of utility customers, with a total of nearly seven thousand in Allegan and Ottawa counties in the dark overnight. Some of those affected may not get their power back until Thursday. At least six persons were killed by tornadoes in Illinois.
There were some weather-related school closings outside of the immediate Holland/Zeeland area; updates on cancellations can be linked here: http://whtc.com/cancellations/
