UNDATED (WHTC) - With less than three weeks to go before Christmas, the excitement of the yuletide season heats up in several Lakeshore communities.
Sinterklaas, the Dutch version of Santa, makes his triumphant return to Holland during the annual parade in his honor this evening. He’ll be riding on his traditional white horse into Centennial Park, where there will be a number of activities for youngsters of all ages. A couple of blocks to the west, the Holiday Kerstmarkt sets up shop at the 8th Street Marketplace outside of the Holland Civic Center, featuring unique handcrafted gifts and authentic Dutch holiday treats.
A 1950’s-style Christmas radio show production at the Red Barn Theatre kicks off a weekend filled with activities in the Saugatuck-Douglas area. Events include a Whoville parade through Saugatuck, a cookie tour of inns, horse-drawn carriage rides, and a bridge lighting ceremony tomorrow night on the Blue Star Highway.
Local retailers will also be ready for an influx of shoppers, as there are just two weekends remaining before December 25th.
