JENISON, MI (WHTC) - Two eastern Ottawa County women were hospitalized after a head-on crash south of Jenison on Saturday afternoon. Sheriff’s Sergeant Brian Buter, along with fellow deputies and rescue crews, were dispatched to 44th Street and Regal Drive, between Kenowa and 8th Avenues. Alexandria Norris was driving eastbound and lost control on the icy road. Her vehicle veered over several lanes and struck the westbound vehicle of Christian Helsel nearly head on.
Crews had to remove Helsel’s vehicle piece by piece to extricate her, and the 23-year-old Hudsonville woman was taken to Spectrum-Butterworth Hospital with serious injuries, while the 18-year-old Norris of Jenison was initially listed in stable condition at Metro Health. The roadway was closed for over an hour as a result.
