HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - The city of Holland will honor recipients of its 2013 Social Justice Awards next Wednesday. Former city Human Relations Coordinator Al Serrano, who retired last January after 27 years with the city, will receive a lifetime achievement award for his work in promoting equal opportunity in the city. Other award include 14th Street Christian Reformed Church in the area of education, local business owners Andy and Carin Ribbens for employment, the “Pancakes R Us” nonprofit in the area of government and community relations, and sisters Grace, Sunny and Babs Hough for youth. The presentation will take place at 7 p.m. during the City Council meeting in council chambers.
