GRAND HAVEN, MI (WHTC) - A 22-year-old Holland man who had already won freedom through appealing a conviction will not be able to avoid a lengthy prison stretch this time. Despite a plea deal with prosecutors in which more serious charges against him were dropped, Angel Moreno Junior could still be behind bars for up to 17 years when he is sentenced on March 18th. He admitted guilt to a felonious assault count stemming from an incident last April in which he allegedly stabbed a 19-year-old Zeeland man several times in the chest outside of a West 31st Street home in Holland. The victim recovered from the attack. Moreno had been freed days earlier following a state Supreme Court decision that overturned a guilty verdict against him for resisting and obstructing Holland Police officers, who had been at his home without a warrant seeking somebody else, in a 2008 incident. Moreno is currently free on bond.
