HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - Holland Planners talked about it last night, and City Council members discuss it this evening, as a potentially controversial issue involving guns in the Tulip City may be before them soon.
The owner of Bullet Hole Firearms and Training wants to construct a 24-hundred square-foot addition to his facility off of East 8th Street for such a range, and says that an ordinance prohibiting the discharge of any firearms inside of the Tulip City limits, except in certain agricultural zones, was violated when an underground range was built as part of the new Holland Police Headquarters downtown. Some local residents are opposed to Bullet Hole’s plans and want a public hearing.
No action was taken by the Planning Commission last night, and none is expected by Council during its business meeting this evening, but city officials say that an ordinance amendment and zoning changes may be necessary before Bullet Hole can open up its shooting range, which is targeted for later this spring.
