DURHAM, N.C. (WHTC) - Funeral services will be held in Durham, North Carolina on Monday for former Hope College professor Allen Verhey. Verhey, who taught in Hope’s religion department for more than 25 years, died Wednesday at the age of 68. He had taught Christian theology and ethics at Duke University since 2004. He wrote and edited 12 books, including his most recent work, “The Christian Art of Dying.” Verhey is survived by his wife, three children, five grandchildren and two brothers.
