SOUTH HAVEN, MI (WHTC) - The apparently troubled life of a 27-year-old Holland man has taken another wrong turn.
Thomas Spangler had been wanted on bench warrants in Ottawa County and Benton Township when a Van Buren County Sheriff’s Deputy spotted a traffic violation as he was driving along 72nd Street east of South Haven yesterday afternoon. As the lawman was pulling the vehicle over, Spangler pulled into a driveway that authorities claim “he did not have any lawful reason to be at.” Noticing signs of being under the influence of drugs, the deputy asked Spangler to perform some tasks that confirmed the use of methamphetamine. A search of the vehicle uncovered that drug, along with meth lab material, marijuana, and a 45-caliber ammo round. Spanger was also driving an unregistered vehicle on a suspended license without insurance.
He was taken to the Van Buren County Jail and arraigned on various charges stemming from the arrest; Spangler could face more counts based on the outstanding warrants.
