UNDATED (WHTC) -- This past winter required many Michigan school districts to go over the amount of allotted snow days. Now that winter is over, the extra days need to be made up or a school district could lose state aid funding. Bill DiSessa, of the Michigan Department of Education said most districts will tack on the makeup days at the end of the school year. A bill was introduced in the state House in early February to forgive the days in excess of the allotment. House Bill 5285 has been in the Committee on Education since February 11th, 2014. Ginger Smith of Zeeland Public Schools says at this time, the plan is to make up the hours at the end of the school year. An announcement will be made on exactly what will happen during the week of April 14th.
