HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - The conversion of the Holland Country Club site is nearly complete.
Golfers have not been teeing off there since the 80-year-old institution closed its doors in 2008 due to bankruptcy, with 122 acres acquired by Ottawa County and turned into a park. The purchase of the clubhouse and the remaining 25 acres was finalized yesterday as the apparent final hurdle for Covenant Developments was cleared before construction on a 68-unit senior living center can begin later this year. The Grand Rapids-based company had received zoning changes last November in order to accommodate its plans after objections over density and infrastructure raised by nearby residents were resolved.
Besides the four-unit, single-level condo buildings, the Villas of Holland will include a three thousand-square foot clubhouse with amenities. An information and sales trailer about the development has been set up near the corner of Country Club Road and 8th Street.
