Gas Prices Low as Tulip Time Nears; Rubber-Band Effect Looming?

HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - Don’t talk too loud about this, but on the eve of Tulip Time, gasoline prices along the Lakeshore haven’t been this low since mid-February.

This morning’s weekly survey of Holland-area stations showed a per-gallon average of $3.61, with rates ranging from $3.53 to $3.69. This is 24 cents below the mark of last Friday, and 22 cents less than what motorists were paying at this time a year ago. Concerns about a rubber-band effect to around $3.89, as has been the case several times in recent weeks when fuel got at or below $3.60, are justified. Triple-A’s daily polling had marks of $3.68 nationally and $3.71 in Michigan.
