UNDATED (WHTC) -- Invasive species located in Ottawa County Parks have a new foe. A simple solution was put in place earlier this week with goats grazing on such plants as poison ivy, buckthorn and autumn olive. Natural Resources Coordinator Melanie Manion says there have been some generous donors to the program. The Friends of Ottawa County Parks donated $2500 to support the project andParks and County Commissioner Philip Kuyers donated the goats for the program. The goats are currently grazing at Eastmanville Bayou in Allendale. Visitors are welcome to observe the goats at work but asked not to touch them since poison ivy has no effect on goats but can be transferred to humans.
