UNDATED (WHTC) -- An accident in the southbound lanes of U.S. 31 this morning caused delays for the better part of an hour.  The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to the accident just before 11 A.M.  The driver of an 18-wheeler, 53-year-old Daniel Rimer of Jefferson, Kentucky, lost control of his truck as he was approaching the traffic signal at Ferris St.  Sgt. Steve Austin reports that no one was injured.   A Dodge Caravan, driven by 29-year-old Andrew Conklin of Grand Haven, was slowing for the red light when the rear of the 18-wheeler struck the back of the van.  Conklin's two young sons, ages 3-years-old and 6-months old, were properly restrained in the van.  The children in Conklin’s vehicle were taken to North Ottawa Community Hospital for evaluation.  Rimer's rig jack-knifed and it took cleanup crews close to an hour to get it out of the road.  He was cited for failure to stop, a civil infraction.
