New Leaders Begin Duties in Grand Haven, Holland Today

UNDATED (WHTC) - It’s the beginning of new eras at the Ottawa County Courthouse and Holland City Hall today. Retirements mean a change of the nameplate at the doors of the county clerk/register of deeds’ and the assistant city manager’s offices.

An afternoon swearing-in ceremony welcomes Justin Roebuck to the county seat vacated when Dan Krueger stepped down after 35 and a half years on the job, and the former deputy clerk, in an interview that you can hear when you go to WHTC News in the podcast tab of this website, is taking a business-like approach to the job he will hold down at least through the 2016 elections.

Meanwhile, a more low-key transition is taking place in the Tulip City, where Information Technology Coordinator Matt Van Dyken is the new assistant city manager, replacing Greg Robinson, who retired after 20 years at the post and three decades in city government. City Manager Ryan Cotton told City Council members that the responsibilities of Robinson's job will be spread out to several other staffers instead of falling all on Van Dyken's shoulders.
