GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WHTC) - The 40-year-old Holland owner of Black River Builders remains free on bond after being bound over for trial on charges of violating state workplace safety rules. Joe Novak is accused of not having his employees wear proper equipment as a 38-year-old subcontractor died after falling through the roof of a building under repair in Sparta two years ago and landed on a concrete floor 26 feet below.
