GRAND HAVEN, MI (WHTC) - A 50-year-old Grand Rapids man began his Saturday at Grand Haven State Park and ended it at Spectrum-Butterworth Hospital.

No names were disclosed by Grand Haven Public Safety after some of its officers, along with Ottawa County Sheriff's Deputies and first responders, were dispatched to the popular park around 2:30 PM. The victim apparently was attempting to move a fifth wheel when a trailer on blocks was dislodged and trapped him underneath. The tongue struck the man in the head, and bystanders were able to move the victim out when rescuers arrived.

The man was first taken to North Ottawa Community Hospital with reportedly a serious skull fracture, and he was eventually flown to Spectrum-Butterworth for further treatment. The incident remains under investigation.

There were no reports of any substantial injuries suffered at any other public park along the Lakeshore over the Fourth of July holiday weekend.
