KENTWOOD, MI (WHTC) - Kentwood police say that a 25-year-old Allendale man who was killed in a crash earlier this month had a blood alcohol level nearly three times the legal limit. Sam Vander Wall died when he drove his car through a flashing red light on 44th Street at Broadmoor Avenue and was broadsided by a semi. Family members dispute the “super drunk” claim, saying that Vander Wall had stopped drinking “hours” before the crash.
