HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - Three persons were arrested following a fatal crash on 32nd Street near Apple Avenue in Holland last night. An eastbound SUV carrying the three persons apparently crossed over the center line and slammed head-on into a westbound motorcycle. The biker, initially identified officially only as a 57-year-old Holland man, but by family members at David Achterhof, was taken to Holland Hospital, where he died from his injuries. Two persons in the SUV fled on foot after the collision and were caught by Public Safety officers about a quarter of a mile away, while the third person inside of the vehicle was taken into custody at the scene. Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash, and investigators will consult with the Ottawa County Prosecutor’s Office about what charges will be filed in the incident. The persons in the SUV are being held by the the HDPS for Immigration and Customs Enforcement as a result of their immigration status.
