PARK TWP., MI (WHTC) - The Park West Drain District continues to be a polarizing factor in Park Township.

During a Board of Trustees meeting last Thursday, some changes to the drain district plan have changed the number of properties sharing the cost drastically. The original number of properties was close to 1800. With the change, 713 residents will have to share the cost of the plan, angering some of those residents.

The Finance and Administration Committee of the Ottawa County Board of Commissioners take up this morning a resolution that, if passed by the full Board next Tuesday, would pledge full faith and credit for up to 2.1 million dollars in bonds for the project.

Martha Urbin, who used this issue as the main plank in her platform for a failed County Drain Commissioner bid two years ago, is organizing a  “Citizens Meeting” for tomorrow night at Turks Restaurant on Butternut Dr. and begins at 6 PM.  For more information, contact Urbin at 616-283-0028.
