
UNDATED (WHTC) - Two men from the Lakeshore killed in separate crashes in a 36-hour span earlier this week will have "celebration of life" services at 12 Noon today.
David Robert Pierson died on Sunday, hours after he was hit outside of his vehicle along Port Sheldon Street in Blendon Township. The 51-year-old Zeeland man had stopped his vehicle on the roadway as he was seeing if he could help two teenaged girls whose vehicle skidded off the roadway and into a ditch. The driver of an oncoming vehicle claimed that he couldn't see the sitatuion ahead because no lights were on, striking Pierson and one of the two girls, who was treated for minor injuries at Spectrum-Butterworth Hospital.
Kenneth Dareall Russell was riding his motorcycle along James Street on Holland's North Side on Monday morning when a car coming from a factory driveway pulled out in front of him. The force of the collision threw the 46-year-old Holland man from his machine, and he died at the scene. The vehicle driver was seriously injured.
Pierson will be remembered at Daybreak Community Church in Hudsonville; Russell at Second Baptist Church in Dowagiac. Both crashes remain under investigation by Ottawa County Sheriff's detectives.
