ZEELAND, MI (WHTC) - Zeeland City Attorney Jim Donkersloot told City Council members and staffers during Monday’s meeting that several dozen newsletters from the Ku Klux Klan, distributed by a mysterious truck that went through some neighborhoods, was US Constitutionally-protected free speech. One complaint was filed with Zeeland Police after the incident, but no enforcement action is expected to be taken. A KKK staffer at the national headquarters in Arkansas confirmed that the newsletter was one of the organization’s publications. This is believed to have been the first wide-scale action by this group in this area for several years.
