Prime Suspect in Mother's Murder Remains in the Ottawa County Jail

UNDATED (WHTC) -- The prime suspect in a 72-year-old Coopersville woman's death was scheduled in court for a pre-preliminary hearing this past Friday.  Fifty-year-old Michael Roersma is charged with lying to a peace officer during the murder investigation of the death of Roersman's mother, Sharon.   She was found by fishermen in the Grand River near the dock off of 90th Avenue south of Nunica on Sept. 29th.  An autopsy revealed that she had been bludgeoned and her neck was broken before she was dropped into the water.  Michael Roersma is also faces probation violation and drug charges.  He remains in the Ottawa County Jail on a $100-thousand bond.  Roersma will next be in Holland District Court for sentencing on Nov. 10th for probation violation sentencing.  No word on when or if Roersma will be charged with murder.
