UNDATED (WHTC) -- The creation of a SmartZone along the Lakeshore has hit a snag even though Grand Rapids wants to extend its SmartZone to include the Michigan State University Bioeconomy Institute located in Holland Township.  Area officials, including Lakeshore Advantage President Jennifer Owens, Michigan West Coast Chamber of Commerce President Jane Clark and Ottawa County Administrator Al Vanderberg, will attend a Michigan Senate Economic Development Committee hearing on Wednesday.  A substitution to Senate Bill 1097 is expected and if passed, could result in an increase to the number of SmartZone satellite permits to be issued.
