FREELAND, MI (WHTC) - A 67-year-old Grand Haven man serving a lengthy prison sentence for rape was allegedly killed by his cellmate at a state correctional facility outside of Saginaw yesterday morning. Theodore Dyer’s death has been ruled a homicide, and the unnamed cellmate has been transferred to a “higher custody” setting while an investigation continues. It was the third violent incident at that prison reported by M-Live’s “Saginaw News” this month, with a corrections officer and one prisoner stabbed in the two earlier incidents. Dyer had been sentenced this past January to between 25 and 50 years.
