UNDATED (WHTC) -- The disappearance of a gas station-convenience store clerk last year led to the creation of the Jessica Heeringa Act in Dec. 2013. The Jessica Heeringa Act would require gas stations that are open between 11 A.M. and 5 A.M., either have two employees working or security cameras installed. Heeringa disappeared while working alone at the Norton Shores Exxon Mobil station on April 26, 2013. The legislation is being discussed by house committee today. If it passes, it will go before the entire house. If approved, the bill would go into effect on Jan. 1st, 2015.
