HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - The fallout from last month’s defeat of an operating millage proposal has begun at the Holland Museum, with cuts to staff and hours announced yesterday. Two full-time and four part-time employees were laid off, with four other full-timers being cut back to part-time. Museum hours were slashed to 11 AM to 4 PM Thursday through Saturday, beginning next Monday, and free admission for residents of Holland, Holland Township and Park Township has ended. No new millage proposal is being considered by the Holland Historical Trust. Executive Director Chris Shires told the Holland Sentinel that a total closure in three to six months is a possibility. Friday night's Sinterklaas Parade through downtown to Centennial Park, which the museum annually stages, will be held as scheduled.
