HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) -- The possibility of the City of Holland and the surrounding area becoming a SmartZone has faded away due to a procedural error during the lame duck session. The details of what went wrong were not immediately available. Local lawmakers say that the issue will be a top priority when the House and Senate reconvene in January. All bills introduced in either the Senate or the House that didn’t make it through the entire process are considered dead. The SmartZone is expected to be reintroduced in January.
