LANSING, MI (WHTC) - According to the Lansing-based news agency MIRS, State House Representative Bob Genetski of Saugatuck has filed the paperwork to organize a candidate committee for the 26th state Senate seat currenlty held by fellow Republican Tonya Shuitmaker of Lawton. Genetski is in his third and last term in the state house, and while he says he isn’t committed to run, he does admit thinking about it. Due to redistricting, Shuitmaker's district picks up Allegan County from Grand Ledge's Rick Jones. MIRS added that Genetski’s drunk driving arrest last year in East Lansing could become an issue if the race heats up and gets personal, but he still easily won a primary challenge from Randy Brink and a general election battle from Democrat Stuart Peet after the incident.
