HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - Round two of Holland’s budget review sessions is tonight, after City Manager Ryan Cotton unveiled his proposed spending plan to Council members on Monday evening. The 20.3 million-dollar general fund blueprint, up from 19.7 million in the current fiscal year budget, does include an additional 100 grand for capital improvement projects to around 860 thousand dollars, but thanks to increased property values, the current tax levy of about 9.66 mills is recommended to remain the same. Compared to a year ago, when a 1.4 million-dollar budget deficit was projected, this spending plan has a slight surplus of 32 hundred bucks, due mostly to a series of cost-cutting measures. Another budget review session in the second floor training center of City Hall is set for tomorrow night before a formal public hearing and final vote on the spending plan on May 1st.
