MARNE, MI (WHTC) - A 55-year-old music teacher at Grandville’s Calvin Christian High School died yesterday afternoon when he was hit pedaling his bicycle along the Musketawa Trail near Marne. Authorities say Jeffrey Looman of Walker apparently didn’t slow down for a stop sign on the trail as it crossed 24th Avenue north of Cleveland Street and went straight into the path of a SUV, driven by 56-year-old Rodney Klein of Coopersville. Although helmeted, Looman was pronounced dead at the scene; Klein was not injured. School officials plan to have grief counselors on hand for affected students as classes resume today. An investigation into the crash continues.
