HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) -- If you’re up early Saturday morning, you might want to head to the train station.  It’s National Train Day John Landon says May 11th is an important day in train history.  It's when the Golden Spike was driven into the rails where East and West met in Promontory, Utah, bringing the Union Pacific and Central Pacific together. Mayor Pro Temp Robert Vande Vusse, State Senator Arlan Meekhof and State Representative Joseph Haveman will be on hand to make a formal declaration of National Train Day for the city of Holland and the state of Michigan. They’ll be serving cake and coffee and have Junior Conductor’s Hats and guidebooks for the kids.  The celebration begins at 7:30 so don’t be late because the train leaves the station by 8:30.
