PINE GROVE TWP., MI (WHTC) - A short high speed chase south of the Lakeshore last night may lead to a host of charges for a 46-year-old Holland man and a 15-year-old Holland girl. No names were immediately disclosed, but Van Buren County Sheriff's Deputies say the the man was allegedly going near 100 miles an hour in a 55 mile-per-hour stretch of  23 ½ street near 5th avenue in Pine Grove Township, and it took about five miles before he pulled over without further incident.

According to a statement from the sheriff's department: "(The driver) admitted to speeding do to the fact that he needed to get home to Holland very soon, or he would be in violation of his parole/curfew hours. The driver was found to be on parole for third-degree criminal sexual conduct. Further investigation discovered that the girl was an escapee, gone for nearly two weeks, from the Ottawa County Juvenile Detention facility. The man and girl did not provide officers with much information as to how they know each other, or the type of relationship they may have. The driver was arrested for reckless driving, operating a motor vehicle without insurance, and a parole violation. The juvenile was transported back to the Ottawa County Juvenile Detention Facility, and Van Buren County Sheriff Deputies are requesting further charges on this suspect driver for violation of his convicted sex offender restrictions, as he was with a 15-year-old girl."

The incident remains under investigation.
