HOLLAND (WHTC) -- The Holland community turned out to honor those who have served or are now serving our country. They were honored first with a parade and then a Memorial Day service at the Civil War Monument in Pilgrim Cemetery. This year’s speaker was Alan VanderVusse, a Viet Nam veteran and past commander of V.F.W. Post 2144. He dedicated his speech to Carl Poest, a Viet Nam veteran who passed away earlier in May. VanderVusse talked about one of the medal of honor recipients from Holland, Gordon Douglas Yntema. He closed his speech, quoting Bob Dylan’s “Blowing in the Wind.” The answer is blowing in the wind.
