HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - The tragedy involving four missionaries from Grand Rapids killed when their vehicle went off of a mountain road and down a steep ravine in Haiti last week has touched the Lakeshore. Matt Kutsche was a GVSU grad who was working at the Holland office of the temporary employment agency Staffing Incorporated, and was involved in various community activities, including membership in the Ambassador Committee of the Michigan West Coast Chamber of Commerce. Chamber Membership Director Brent Gawlik was among those stunned on word of Kutsche’s death, and he felt that Kutsche was an ideal representative for the committee and the chamber.
The chamber will wait until funeral arrangements are finalized before announcing any plans to honor Kutsche, as bureaucratic red tape in Haiti has kept family members from getting the bodies of the four victims back to West Michigan at this point.
