GRAND HAVEN, MI (WHTC) - Jury selection in the trial of a 50-year-old Zeeland man accused of a high-profile double murder is slated for March 11th, but developments this afternoon could change all that.

Ottawa County Circuit Court Judge Jon Hulsing is scheduled to hold a hearing on two motions involving Ryan Wyngarden. He was arrested by cold case investigators a year ago and accused of shooting his sister Gail and her husband Rick Brink at the couple’s Park Township home late in 1987. It took a quarter of a century before Wyngarden’s wife was able to admit that he confessed to her the day after the incident, saying in last February’s preliminary hearing that she lied to detectives for fear of her safety and that of their son.

Wyngarden was bound over for trial following that hearing and has been held without bond since his arrest.
