LANSING, MI (WHTC) - As state lawmakers return to Lansing today in advance of the Governor’s budget presentation on Thursday, there is discussion on Mr. Snyder’s proposed hike in vehicle registration fees, along with revamping the state’s gas tax system, in order to fund over a billion dollars in proposed road repairs. While no legislation has been formally presented yet, lawmakers such as Representative Amanda Price are already feeling the heat from motorists not happy with the idea. In a Monday appearance on WHTC's "Talk of the Town" program, the Park Township Republican explained an alternative idea to fund road repairs, reforming the state's catastrophic insurance law so that some of that money goes towards road work. Price believes that the state Senate will move any such legislation faster than the House, which she feels will be more deliberate in considering all of the options for funding road repairs.
