ZEELAND, MI (WHTC) -- With snow continuing to fall along the Lakeshore, the City of Zeeland is implementing temporary parking restrictions on city streets. As the snowbanks continue to grow and the width of the streets continues to shrink, the city is hoping that limiting parking to one side of the street only will be a help if an emergency arises. City Manager Tim Klunder says the restrictions are being put in place for citizens safety. The plan is to analyze the streets and if it seems that vehicles parked on both sides could inhibit the path of emergency vehicles, the restriction will be put in place. Residents and businesses are also being asked to remove snow around fire hydrants if they can.
