HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - A local coalition of governmental and business leaders is campaigning for passage of Proposal 1 on the August 5 Primary Election ballot.
Led in a Tuesday afternoon rally by Holland Mayor Kurt Dykstra, Ottawa County Administrator Al Vanderberg, and Rich Starbuck, who owns a parts manufacturing business on Holland’s North Side, Michigan Citizens for Strong and Safe Communities wants to see the measure approve that would eliminate the state’s Personal Property Tax while mandating for local services 100 percent reimbursement from Lansing of the lost revenue. The measure, which had already cleared the legislature, needs voter approval due to the state constitution. There is no apparent organized opposition to this ballot proposal.
