HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - Another national accolade for the Lakeshore won't be coming after all.
Honored in recent years as the "happiest city in the USA" and taking top honors in the "America in Bloom" competition, Holland's efforts to secure the "Best Main Street in the USA" award in an online competition has fallen short. The Tulip City had reached the Round of 16 in the tournament bracket-style format held by Parade Magazine, but lost to Siloam Springs, a community on the Arkansas/Oklahoma state line, in balloting that ended at midnight.
Last month, Saugatuck finished third in Coastal Living Magazine's "Happiest Seaside Town" online contest.
