HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) -- The demolition began last week on properties bought by the Holland Board of Public Works for the new power plant. An agreement between the BPW and CSX was finalized at Monday's Board of Trustees meeting. The sale of the 1.5-acre property, located just north of Eighth Street and west of Fairbanks Avenue, took the utility eight months to pull together something that CSX could agree to, for a reported price of $60,900. One stipulation made by CSX was that the property would not be used for residences. The purchase has one final hurdle. City Council is expected to give their approval later this week during the regular City Council meeting.
