HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - A 14-year-old girl from Holland’s North Side is back with her parents after apparently running away with a 28-year-old man she had met on the Internet. According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Detective Lieutenant Mark Bennett, the unnamed teen’s mother notified authorities when the girl came up missing last Thursday, and it was learned that the youth met the man through an online dating website. It took several days of going over social media websites, emails and text messages before authorities located the pair at a room in Holland's Wooden Shoe Motel on Wednesday. Matthew Mahaney was arrested without incident on outstanding warrants unrelated to the incident, and was arraigned Thursday on those warrants, along with an additional criminal sexual conduct count stemming from this incident, which remains under investigation. Mahaney remains held on 20 thousand dollars bond.
