PARK TWP., MI (WHTC) - Residents opposed to the Park West Drain project in Park Township have planned an organizational meeting at a Butternut Drive restaurant this evening. County commissioners will be asked next Tuesday to affirm a 2.14 million-dollar bond issue to fund the project, with assessments to property owners used to pay back those bonds, after a Board committee yesterday endorsed the resolution. Heavy June rains in 2008 and 2009 that caused flooding issues led to the new drain proposal, but opponents have raised concerns over its scope and cost.
