UNDATED (WHTC) -- Mayor Kurt Dykstra is in Philadelphia along with Holland residents involved in the America in Bloom contest this weekend. Some of the things each city is judged on include the horticulture of a town, the heritage preservation, community involvement and environmental awareness. Andy Kenyon, Parks and Cemetery Manager said that Holland has already received one reward. The mayor received a plaque for community floral display for the fourth year in a row, which the City received a 5-bloom rating for.
Kenyon says the big prize will be awarded on Saturday and the city of Holland is well-represented.
For the last three years, the Tulip City has been the champion in the 24-thousand to 50 thousand population category in the competition.
