WEST OLIVE, MI (WHTC) - A two-pickup accident in Olive Township last night injured two couples. According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Greg Rotman, 25-year-old Michael Mennes of Zeeland apparently drove his northbound truck on 104th Avenue through a stop sign at Stanton Street and broadsided the eastbound pickup of 62-year-old Merle DeWitt of West Olive. Both vehicles ended up in ditches, with Mennes’ truck overturning; he and his wife Elizabeth were able to get out on their own and sought their own treatment, with Mennes leaving with a ticket. DeWitt and his wife Sherelyn were taken to Spectrum-Zeeland Community Hospital for observation. The crash remains under investigation.
