PARK TWP., MI (WHTC) - During last night’s meeting, the West Ottawa Board of Education unanimously ratified a contract extension with the West Ottawa Education Association that will run through the end of the 2017 academic year. Unionized instructors will get a step increase in pay plus a one-percent cost-of-living hike in the final year of the pact. They will also be working three more school days in 2017. The district and the union were in the second year of a three-year deal ratified last fall, and officials say that the new pact is the most far-reaching in terms of length thus far in Ottawa County. The rank-and-file of the WOEA had approved the extension last week.
