HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - The spills and chills of Halloween came early for motorists on US-31 in Holland this morning.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Matt VanderPloeg, a northbound motorist’s vehicle had broken down around 8th Street around 7:30 AM and partially blocked one lane. Other motorists had slowed down or stopped, but one didn’t in time, setting off a chain reaction collision in which one vehicle caught fire. The roadway was blocked off for about 90 minutes in order to clean up the mess. No serious injuries were reported, although two motorists suffered bumps and bruises. No names were disclosed due to the volume of the four-crash, 11-vehicle incident.
